Setting Up A Home Gym Using Real Gym Equipment

Setting up a home gym can be a daunting task but there are a few things you can do to make it a simple and fun activity. Working out at home has a huge range of benefits - number one being that you don't need to go anywhere! No travelling to the gym - all your free time can be spent working out, as opposed to travelling to and from the gym.

Setting up home gym equipment is something that can take practice and it might take you a while to get everything set up how you want it. However, there are a few things that you need to consider and that's what this lens is all about. You're about to learn how to set up the perfect home gym with your very own home gym equipment - staying in shape has never been easier!

When it comes to setting up a home gym, there are a range of factors to consider. Firstly, you'll need the space. Finding space that's appropriate can be tough in most UK households but that doesn't mean you can't utilize the space you have to make yourself a nice little home gym. Bear in mind that a lot of gym equipment folds for storage so if you want to, you can set up a space that's used for a home gym and other things while you're not working out.

Choosing Equipment
Choosing the gym equipment you're going to use is essential, it's the first thing you need to do. If you don't really know what you need then ask around and have a look on some review websites. A basic rule of thumb is that machines like bikes and treadmills are ideal for beginners, rowing machines and multi gyms are better for a more experienced exerciser. Take your time to work out what sort of thing you are likely to have time for - bear in mind that a full workout on a treadmill can be as much as an hour (even for beginners). A cross trainer is more likely to allow you to get more of a solid workout in a shorter period of time because they work you harder.

Once you have chosen the equipment you would like, you can think about where it'll go.

Finding Appropriate Space
Obviously, you need a reasonable amount of space. A lot of home gym equipment is large and space consuming so it's a good idea to ensure you know what you're going to be using, before you pick out the space in your home. The average treadmill is about 2 meters long and about three quarters of a meter wide so make sure that you have checked out the measurements on any home gym equipment you have your eye on.

Measure the area generously - make sure you leave a reasonable amount of space between each piece of equipment. You don't necessarily need to buy more than one fitness machine - you can use smaller areas for your other exercises such as weight lifting etc.

Setting a Budget
Finding good deals for home gym equipment can be fairly easy now that the internet is full of online retailers. However, you should still do a bit of research to make sure that you know you're getting the best deals. Take your time to browse online stores and don't rush into any big purchases. Things like a treadmill and a rowing machine are usually in the 100s of pounds price range so it's not something you should rush into - unless you're loaded!!
